Motivation Desire

We all have those certain people we find annoying and something about them just drives you crazy.  I found the two that annoy me the most have bad habits or characteristics similar to me.  (It could be because we are related, but I also find the same characteristics irritating in other people who are not relatives.)  Yes, the three of us make up excuses.  And yes, we don’t think things out before doing them or speaking them.  Another yes, we don’t have enough ambition to accomplish what we long for.

First reaction, always complain about them without realizing your talking about yourself.  Second reaction, start hating yourself because you see the similarities.  (Feel free to skip this step.)  Last reaction, improve on yourself.

It’s harder than it sounds.  My children are the best at nagging and forcing me to make these changes.  But the truth is the changes won’t happen until I decide to make them.  My oldest suggested I sign up for Interior Design online classes.  She knew it peaked my interest but also realizing that it makes me accountable to get the work completed on time- getting a good grade would be preferred.

The desire to complete the class was a slow simmer until I noticed how much time I had left versus how many more modules.  That definitely lit a fire in me.  I have to figure out how to light a flame for everything else I need to work on.  The thing I find that works for me is complete one thing and when I am feeling good about it start another project.  If I am still on the high of a job well done, I don’t have a chance to settle down and lose my direction.

Everyone has a way that is best for them.  What is yours?  Do you have a goal you keep pushing to the side?  I hope we both find our true motivations.  And I hope I can start truly liking those who annoy me once I can set myself apart from them.
